Journal Entry 1

Critical Literacy is indeed a new subject for me to learn during this semester. To be honest, I am not close to any seniors during my time back in college so there are nobody who shares to me their comments or personal experiences regarding this course. Due to that, I do not know any information that might be beneficial for me to know it in advance before the class started. I really do not have any first impression upon this course but looking back at its name, I realised that it sounds a bit terrifying. Moving on, one of my expectations for this course is that I believe I am going to be exposed to dive deeper about literature works but twice harder than the previous literature course in the previous semester. I do not have any clue that Critical Literacy is a completely different course than Introduction to Literature course. Especially with the word "critical" in its name, it tends to make me thinking that this course is going to be very challenging. For example, I will need to master a lot of writing skills in order to not flunk the tests. Moreover, I also feel like I am going to learn more complex analysing skills to analyse many famous works out there in this class. Moving on to my hope for this course, I precisely used to think that I am not doing great in terms of writing complicated texts thus I do not put any high hope into this matter. I am just going to embrace the surprises given from this course patiently and try my best. Nonetheless, one thing for sure is that I want to successfully pass this course with flying colours. Even though writing is not my forte, I hope that this course can improve my writing skills and thinking skills. Therefore, I am looking forward to learn new things and widen my knowledge and abilities in this course.

Through early stages of the pandemic, Malaysia had successfully restrained the people from going out and roaming in public places to avoid the virus to spread. As a result, the number of cases did not increase to a critical level where netizens were allowed to go out again to work and continue our daily life as normal. Journal Entry 4

     During recent times, working life in most households has been severely changed due to the long-term pandemic. Many adults are unable to go to their office or workplaces unlike their usual routine anymore. As everyone knows, men, or husbands are typical to represent as someone who goes to work to financially support the family, meanwhile women, or wives play roles at home and babysit the children. Logically, men will be thought to do less works at home because they have spent their time and energy during their absence from home. Nonetheless, after pandemic locked the entire population from going outside, men are finally obligated to only stay indoors and practice work-from-home tasks.
