Journal Entry 4

During recent times, working life in most households has been severely changed due to the long-term pandemic. Many adults are unable to go to their office or workplaces unlike their usual routine anymore. As everyone knows, men, or husbands are typical to represent as someone who goes to work to financially support the family, meanwhile women, or wives play roles at home and babysit the children. Logically, men will be thought to do less works at home because they have spent their time and energy during their absence from home. Nonetheless, after pandemic locked the entire population from going outside, men are finally obligated to only stay indoors and practice work-from-home tasks. Due to this, they have more times in hand to help to their significant others or other family members with the chores.     In my perspective, I do agree that men has become more involved with house chores during times they have spent at home. What is even more interesting is th...

Despite living in a modern environment, issues such as sexual violence is never near to fade away from the society. Even now, not every behaviour can be considered as valid nor people should normalize those said behaviours. Sexual violence is as well highlighted on any kind of sexual act that is against someone's consent, including sexual harassments and assault, especially towards female victims. It is common to hear incoming cases regarding this problem and girls are the majority who are badly affected by it. Precisely, there are three premises to justify on why this matter is true and should be taken seriously.      The first point to proof that girls are on greater risk of experiencing sexual violence is because girls are easy victim to be targeted because they are young and weak. Usually, when there are cases about sexual issues in newspaper or news report, people can feel alerted that innocent girls are the biggest group of people to end up being...

Through early stages of the pandemic, Malaysia had successfully restrained the people from going out and roaming in public places to avoid the virus to spread. As a result, the number of cases did not increase to a critical level where netizens were allowed to go out again to work and continue our daily life as normal. However, the pandemic turned worse and we have to go back to the norm of being locked indoors. Due to this, there are several assumptions I have been thinking on why this issue is happening and what it may cause. Firstly, I assumed that there are still a few of groups of people who did not want to follow the rules set by the government during movement control order (MCO). This is because they are not aware of the negative impact of the virus towards their health when they are going outside without any sign of urgency. They continued in doing routine that they are supposed to temporarily avoid, such as making close contact with others, hanging out in public, or not wearin...

Critical Literacy is indeed a new subject for me to learn during this semester. To be honest, I am not close to any seniors during my time back in college so there are nobody who shares to me their comments or personal experiences regarding this course. Due to that, I do not know any information that might be beneficial for me to know it in advance before the class started. I really do not have any first impression upon this course but looking back at its name, I realised that it sounds a bit terrifying. Moving on, one of my expectations for this course is that I believe I am going to be exposed to dive deeper about literature works but twice harder than the previous literature course in the previous semester. I do not have any clue that Critical Literacy is a completely different course than Introduction to Literature course. Especially with the word "critical" in its name, it tends to make me thinking that this course is going to be very challenging. For example, I will nee...
